This excellent article, which Bron sent me, tells us two important things:
1. Story arc is important in all types of writing, even in blogging.
2. The Wire is probably the best-written show in the Western world. There may be a better written show out there, from like Korea or Malawi, but not in English.
The article doesn't give away any spoilers about the show, but just talks about how well it uses small, medium and long-term story arcs as part of creating depth.
I recommend both this article and The Wire.
Damnit! I need season five desperately.
