A Christmas House Tour - Part 1

Yesterday I promised some "Christmasey" entries on Late to the Party and last week I promised to share some of my decorating efforts.  I TRY to keep all my promises, even though I am not always successful.  With that in mind,  today I will open the door to my home and share the Christmas spirit that lives here.  AND....since Layla over at The Lettered Cottage is having a blog link party showcasing mantels, I thought I would join in the fun! If you have time, go to the link above at Layla's blog and see all the beautiful and cute ways that others have decorated their own mantels!

 

The nutcrackers have been collected mainly over the past 10 or 12 years, even though the very first one I got in 1973!  Some have been gifts, some have been purchased by me for me, some have been yard sale finds.  I love them all!  Big, small, skinny, fat.

The little red birds scattered thoughout the garland are vintage rescued from Goodwill.  They have found quite a home in the greenery and are very well-behaved, although I cannot attest to what they may do when I am not home! The white and gold skinny nativity set was a much wished for gift from my daughter.  I love my mantel! Other than the tree in the nearby corner, it is the focal point of my great room and looks so warm and inviting.  


Soon I will post another room or collection!  Maybe the hearth will be next to complete the fireplace. Hope you will enjoy the tour and feel a little bit of Christmas spirit when you come to visit the blog!  You can never have enough Christmas, that's what I always say!

cheryl cole gets american x factor 2011 judges place!, cheryl cole has landed the highest profile showbiz judging job, by being given the go ahead according to some sources to be on the new american x factor 2011, the usa version of the x factor uk.

though it is said that american x factor show is shown on the run up to christmas by some sources, but would that not clash with the uk x factor show in 2011?, as the uk x factor show runs up to christmas as well.

i would of thought that american x factor should of run through the summer time and then uk x factor would of followed when the american x factor 2011 had finished running in 2011, with the uk x factor showing at its usually time of year like it has this year, after the united states version of x factor had finished.

Exam Distractions

Isn't it funny how when you're studying for exams, you suddenly get all interested in writing, housework, blogging, and baking? That's me today!

I started the morning by organizing my reading. I have eight days to study not-so-much material, but very-heavy-to-read material. We're talking John Stuart Mill-heavy. I organized it so that I do such and such per day, no more and no less. That's what works best for me.

Today, I'm reading and taking notes on the least heavy subject. I'm about 3/4th through, but it's soooo difficult to get the last 1/4th done. Maybe because I just took a lunch break and lost that trans-like focus I get. All I can think about now is blogging, critiquing, rewriting my first chapter, and baking Christmas cookies. Which I'm totally doing after I've completed my 1/4th. 

It's so hard to get to it, but it's easy going once I'm there. Since I'm a fairly disciplined person, I will get this done today.

When I get like this, I organize myself via time. For example, I will start reading again at one PM, take a break at one thirty and such. Unless I'm in a trans...then I just continue. Okay! Enough procrastination. It's almost one PM!

What distracts you when you're studying for exams/trying to complete a project?

Task for the day: Study about DIY, make easier notes from the easy notes, listen to the online lecture, finish my creative writing portfolio, pick up the kids, and bake!
