Holding back the tears...

Watching some of the emotion from America on TV, I was reminded of how much a black president meant to so many people.I think it's a triumph of the American system that it can produce leaders of any race who can go on to become president.

I wonder if any of the countries who routinely criticise the US on pretty much everything would ever be so successful??

France, for instance. Will we ever see a French president come from the millions and millions of ethnic Africans and Arabs in that country? I doubt it.

Will there ever be an ethnically-Turkish German chancellor? There are millions of Turks in Germany. This one is possible, but it would take a long time, I believe.

England has got more cultures living in it than there are countries on earth ;) Will there ever be an Asian (Pakistani or Indian) prime minister? Of course, the English have already had a female prime minister, so they're ahead of the game there.

What about Saudi Arabia? Will there ever be a women in charge of anything?? Heh heh heh, of course not!

A Maori prime minister in New Zealand? Possible.

An Aboriginal prime minister in Australia? I honestly think it wouldn't be an issue for the vast majority of Australians. If he (or she) was the best candidate, they would win. An Asian prime minister might be more of a stretch, unless John So decided to run.

I can never see Japan ever being led by someone who isn't completely Japanese. Never. I really mean that. NEVER.

Holland, on the other hand, will probably put up three different half-black, half Arab, disabled, lesbian, former strippers for its elections.
