Auto-tune!

Kanye loves it. Lil Wayne rocks it. T-Pain built a career on it. Jay-Z dissed it.

It's Auto-Tune.

Whether you love it or hate it, the pitch correction software known as Auto-Tune has created a massive stir in hip-hop. It has also revealed a bunch of rappers to be wannabe R&B stars.

Anyway, here are my favourite songs that use Auto-Tune in some capacity.
Lil Wayne - Got Money (feat. T-Pain)
Kanye West - Paranoid
Game - My Life (feat. Lil Wayne)
Daft Punk - One More Time
Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
Kanye West - The Good Life (feat. T-Pain)
Kanye West - Heartless
T.I., Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z - Swagga Like Us

And here is Jay-Z's diss - D.O.A (Death Of Auto-tune)

And here is the latest hilarious episode of Auto-Tune The News, featuring T-Pain! He even sings along to Katie Couric's now famous "very thin ice" line.

In interviews with Jay-Z, he's been asked about why he's ripping into something that his main collaborator (Kanye), his R&B protege (Rihanna) and other major friendly rappers (Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, etc) have all been using. His response was that he has liked some Auto-tuned songs, but he is worried about what following fads and trends means for the industry. Jay believes rap's future is in being clever, interesting and talented. Fads like crunk or Auto-tune will only serve to make rap seem like a piece of pop culture, to be passed over and ignored in a few years time. He has a point. And the controversy will help sales of The Blueprint 3, which drops on September 11, eight years after The Blueprint 2: The Gift and The Curse was released.
