Directing actors
Humans
Pros: Very skilled, excellent acting range, versatile.
Cons: Extremely independent, likely to have their own ideas about a script. Also weak and unable to perform at a consistently high level for extended periods of time.
Zombies
Pros: Tireless workers, always ready to act. Will do what you tell them to if you control them.
Cons: They need to be controlled with the promise of brains. Acting range and vocabulary limited, and facial expression can be stilted.
Robots
Pros: Available to work at any time, with little to no preparation. No problem remembering lines or stage directions.
Cons: Delivery can be stilted and 'robotic', and there is always the threat of a robot rebellion. Also, they tend to think they are smarter than humans, which can result in some insubordination on set.
Children
Pros: They look good on camera and other children like to watch them, which is important for the success of your project.
Cons: Able to work even less than full-size humans, they will barely be available to act. Also, liable to cry and defecate themselves.
Animals
Pros: They look cute and can provide some great humour to your project. Also, they can do stunts that would kill humans.
Cons: They die during those stunts, which means they have to be replaced by similar looking animals. Also, difficult to control and they do not take stage direction well at all.
Thanks Shiloh! Hope Will's play goes well.
