"Oh sh#$, get your towels ready it's about to go down!
Everybody in the place hit the ****ing deck - but stay on your mutha****ing toes
We're running this. Let's go."
Yes, BSG has been very exciting. Ohhhh so exciting. The end of season three was all like "Whaaaaa...?? No WAY!!" and THEN it was like "Oh nooo waaay!!!!" immediately after that and then it was like "oh woah okay". Yeah, things are getting totally crazy.
Why is BSG a good show? I think it's the writing, the acting and the direction. They are excellent. If you're looking for a show that you just have to keep watching, this is the one. It's not a slow burn like The Wire, or as confusing as Lost. It is action-packed from the start. It is a sci-fi show, but that is really a backdrop. The science takes a back seat to the fiction. The show is really about human drama and how we react and make recisions when put in impossible situations.
If you're going to start watching it, make SURE you start with the two-hour pilot movie. The boxset we originally hired DID NOT include that, which made the episodes I saw way too confusing. It actually put me off watching it for several years, partly because I was so confused. The pilot made everything make much much more sense.
You will get to know the brilliant, weak, insufferable, sly scientist Gaius Baltar. The tempestuous, damaged, freakishly-talented pilot Kara "Starbuck" Thrace. The gruff, husky, experienced captain Bill Adama. The gorgeous, heart-breaking pilot Sharon "Boomer" Valeri. And you will get to know the Cylons, in all their forms.
It really is a good show. I know I bang on about television shows on my blog a lot. I've talked up The Wire, How I Met Your Mother, Arrested Development, Gossip Girl, The OC, The US Office, 30 Rock, Lost and The Sopranos. And now I'm talking up Battlestar Galactica. Because it is awesome.
