This is a very interesting article about why Australians are so good at sport. It was written by a man who wrote a book on the subject. His main point is that Australians always keep score - whether it's a local fun run or an international Test match. Participation is a reason to get involved, but not the main one. Aussies care who wins. Local sport, national sport, international sport. We can shrug off losses, but we want to win.
The Ashes start tonight. This is a big deal. The English team is actually quite good. Not as good as 2005, I think, but not the useless trundlers of 06/07. The Aussie team is untried in many ways.
And I have to say, Brett Lee's injury is a blessing in disguise. I think he may have done the business in the tour match, but he's been in poor form and never done well in England. I really really hope they pick Hilfy.
In other news, Mike has posted a link to Brett Geeves blog. He really is hilarious.
