    Blue Zombie Chicks

    Halloween is here!

Please enjoy our first annual Halloween post. This year is featured Blue Zombie Chicks.

Zombie Girl is a Canadian (yeah, I know, ay) Electro-Industrial/Industrial rock project. I reckon this zombie here is Renee Cooper. I'm not sure she is technically blue, since at her myspace page there's a picture of her and she is notblue. But, there's another picture of her blue so I don't know if it's the lighting...

    Do we care? Really?

    Not I. Blue is blue.

Check out her music too - it's pretty creepy and industrial electronic just like the description says. I have to say this is my favorite Zombie Girl this year. Not just for the blue-factor, at that!

    Scary Zombie Girl

I found this Zombie Girl on flickriver. The page she's on is like 8000+ pictures and I don't really understand what it is. It's like flickr but it just loads picture after picture. So I can't properly credit her because I didn't have the patience to wade through to figure out who posted her up.

Maybe when I am bored I'll properly credit her, but for now I just call her Scary Zombie Girl.

This Zombie Chick was at Comic-Con 2010. I don't know what kind of statue she is but there's a couple other pictures out there of her. And she's more on the blue/green shade of the spectrum, but I figured there was enough blue in her to color her for this year's Blue Zombie Chicks post.

    Custom Zombie Doll

Yeah, you thought I was sick. Right. You need to check out this guy's custom horror dolls. Zombie girl here is pretty much the tamest of the bunch.

I wouldn't exactly call them "hot", unless you're into stripped flesh and lots of blood. Hey, it takes all kinds, right?

I ain't judging this guy, but next time you are inclined to think a blue skinned fetish is sick, just re-visit this guy for a lesson in relativity.

Chapter 84: What Happened to Halloween?

The evening's festivities are over, and my wife and I are settling in for our annual Ghost Hunters live event. I don't know if it was the drizzle and rain or something else, but this year's Halloween was disappointing.

Not many kids stopped by in their costumes. We have too much candy left over. And even the costume creativity seems to have taken a nosedive. I'm just not that impressed.

I used to look forward to Halloween as a kid. It was a night to go out after dark, explore, get candy, and goof around. I looked forward to seeing what others would wear and, in case I forgot to mention it, getting candy.

This year it was a Saturday night. I expected more children, not fewer. Are people afraid to let their children roam a neighborhood?

Now that I'm a father, I look forward to taking my girls around the neighborhood. I think I might even enjoy dressing up to give people a little scare as well. Forget the associations with paganism and satanism that some people place on this celebration of individuality, Halloween is Mardi Gras for children. It should be cherished and enjoyed.

    Chapter 69.3: Happy Halloween!

My wife and I, who both enjoy a good horror film or episode of Ghost Hunters, went with some friends to the Nightmare Haunted House in New York. It was a blast! The Lower East Side venue looked like an old church, though I don't believe that's what it was.

Groups of twelve were allowed into the haunted house at one time. We wove our way through cramped hallways, never knowing when a masked person might pop out. In many rooms the the looming presence was quite obvious, standing before us or waiting in a corner for the right moment to make a person jump or scream. Each room had a different theme. In one, we had to walk over a bed that looked like someone it had been the scene of a bloodletting. I was in the lead at that point, and a woman dressed completely in black jumped upon the bed; there was nowhere to go, so I had to follow her up over the bed. In another room, at least a dozen bodies in white shrouds stood blocking the path; the room was filled with them. I wasn't sure whether I was allowed to walk through them or if they'd eventually open up some space. When I tried to go around one of them, he moved into my direction -- several times. He wouldn't let me go. It wasn't scary so much as it was confusing. But it was fun.

Also a lot of fun was the bar. Once you had your ticket, you could pre-game in the bar and get a pleasant buzz before entering the haunted house. (In addition to the basic generic beer choices, a nice touch was the brand of wine they served: Gato Negro -- black cat.) But if you're looking for a nice scare, get your tickets soon; the house closes after November 3.

    Halloween Hall of Fame

Halloween Hall of Fame opened its "creaking" doors this week. Honoring the extraordinary folks who make Halloween popular, the Halloween Hall of Fame recognizes the amazing talents of Bobby "Boris" Pickett, Lon Chaney Jr, Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi and Elvira "Mistress of the Night".

The inspiration for the Halloween Hall of Fame actually came from Harold Maxwell, founder of Annie's Costumes. After hearing that Bobby "Boris" Pickett passed away, Harold remarked, "He really should be in the Halloween Hall of Fame." And when he did a little research and found out that there wasn't one, he helped form a Board of Directors to get the Halloween Hall of Fame going.

The exciting part of the Halloween Hall of Fame is that the public gets to express their opinion on who should be in it. Check out the list of nominees and vote your favorite celebrity into the Halloween Hall of Fame.

    Rob Zombie Halloween Movie Remake

The horrifying return of Michael Myers through the eyes of Rob Zombie! The movie will be released on August 31, 2007.

You might have seen the previews already and this remake looks even scarier than the original. Granted, the original movie is a classic and was quite scary enough, especially since I was pretty young when I first saw it.

The voice over on the Halloween trailer says, "This August, Rob Zombie unleashes an extreme vision of terror and reinvents a legend." Some critics, although fans of Rob Zombie, are asking why? Why remake a classic? I personally think the trailer is spooky as is and has intrigued me enough to want to see the movie. Although, I am a movie fan, contrary to what you might imagine, I am not a huge horror movie fan. I guess growing up in the Halloween business has somewhat desensitized me to some things, and at the same time, some recent movies are just too sick or gory for my taste. I guess I live in a world of costumes, makeup and horror, so I like something different in most of my movies. But I will go and see this new Halloween movie, I'm kind of excited about it, actually.
The new Halloween movie trailer, I feel, is actually too scary to post here on my blog, since I want to keep my blog PG and family oriented about things related to Halloween and Halloween costumes.
There is an interesting interview with Rob Zombie posted on Final Girl's blog. I just linked to it, rather than post it here along with a warning that you might find a few bad words there - doesn't bother me, but just in case it might bother you. : )
I almost forgot . . . for any of you avid fans out there, http://www.anniescostumes.com/ carries the official Michael Myers Mask as well as the Michael Myers costume for adults. If you get it now, you can wear it to the premier and at Halloween so that you can get double the fright time out of it!
