How to enjoy Onechanbara

I played about 2 hours of Onechanbara on the 360 and really like it. It’s not a very good game with super low budget flaws. So what is it that I like so much about the game? Here are the top three:

1) Dress up mode – Well duh! It’s a bit tough to unlock everything, but I’m happy with this mode so far. You unlock new outfits and color options by completing quests and gaining experience. I think hitting level 20 with Aya unlocked new hair color and something else I’m forgetting at the moment.

2) Experience building – Grinding for better stats is handled fairly. The points don’t come easily at first, but it does appear I’m earning more as the levels progress.

3) Smooth sword action – The action and combos are pretty cool and handle well. The camera is crap though.

If you’re playing now or thinking about purchasing it, here are a few tips that will help you get the most enjoyment from the game:

A) Consult this FAQ. This is not a matter of cheating or taking the easy way out. It is IMPOSSIBLE to figure out how to unlock items or defeat certain enemies on your own. The instruction manual is one of the most useless I’ve seen in a long time.

B) You can create an all bikini version of the characters even before unlocking any items. Just create a new character in dress up mode and you can select that version in the game.

C) Don’t grind for experience before chapter 3 or 4. Without spoiling too much, I can tell you that something happens that resets your levels. After that though there is no similar set back.
