Can you guess which movie the title is referring to? It's the name of a movie, translated into Russian. And it's not The Fast and the Furious.
Answer is here.
For those of you who remember my old blog, the title was Two Words, with a subtitle of "The most imitated, Grammy nominated, hotel-accommodated, cheerleader prom-dated, Barbershop, playa hated, mom and pop, bootlegged it." That came from this song, a very good and little-known track from Kanye's first album, featuring Mos Def. I recommend watching the cool video here (it's done in the style of film credits). And if you listen to the lyrics, you can understand why the song is called 'Two Words'.
Just a random thought: who is the most successful rapper turned actor ever??? Method Man has done well. Ice Cube has done his bits around. Ice-T has been on Law and Order for years. But I've got to say, the most successful rapper turned actor ever? Is this man:
He won a Grammy in 1989 in the newly created Rap category for "Parents Just Don't Understand". As part of DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, Will was a multi-platinum artist. Then he became an actor. And let's just look at that for a minute. Bad Boys I & II. Independence Day. Men In Black I & II. Enemy of the State. Wild Wild West. Ali. I, Robot. Hitch. The Pursuit of Happyness. I Am Legend. Hancock. A bunch of others. It seems like every person on the planet has seen at least one Will Smith film. And then... he went back and did some more rapping, and made a stack more cash.
I'm actually thinking... has there ever been a more successful musican turned actor??? Sinatra? Dean Martin? Dolly Parton?? In terms of critical and commercial success, has anyone come close to Big Willie Style? Thoughts?
