There where plenty celebrities on the red carpet at Monday evening's Met Costume Institute Gala, as befitting any tribute to Alexander McQueen. But many of the stars were feeling neutral in blush and champagne hues, indicating a major trend towards the lighter end of the palette.
Among the attendees who chose dainty blush gowns were Lala Vasquez (in Vera Wang), Ashley Greene (in custom Donna Karan) and model Jessica Stam (in Tommy Hilfiger). Perhaps the Royal Wedding had these ladies wishing for a princess moment of their own. :)
Maggie Q was softly romantic in a champagne-hued Tadashi Shoji gown, while Salma Hayek showcased her curves in an ethereal Alexander McQueen creation. Taylor Swift hit a surprisingly gothic note in a custom Gilles Mendel creation, and mom-to-be Kate Hudson shimmered in Stella McCartney.
Of course, there was glitz. Renee Zellweger's Carolina Herrera gown featured a stunning open back dusted with crystals around the edges. Sarah Jessica Parker's breathtaking Alexander McQueen gown was intricately beaded from the hem to the high neckline. Gwyneth Paltrow's champagne-hued Stella McCartney gown shimmered from every angle. Naomi Watts' gown, also Stella McCartney, sparkled with gold and white crystals. Also worth noting: all wore long-sleeves. Sensing a trend?
