Well, congrats. And I wonder if it was Kanye who got Luke involved, given that Mr West has linked to Empire of the Sun videos a couple of times on his blog.I finally got Lily Allen's album, It's Not Me, It's You, yesterday. It's good. Really good. She's changed her sound, but for the better and more mature. She's still as lyrically clear as ever. And thematically, well, I found it interesting. She talks a lot about coming home to a man and watching TV and eating takeaway food and just relaxing with each other. Basically, she's talking up domestic bliss (wow, I almost typed Domestic Blitz, that Channel Nine show. Damn their advertising is pervasive!).
And I find that interesting. Pop songs by a young, pretty, successful woman, talking about her dream of domestic bliss with a man????? I think the feminists in the 1970s might have broken down in helpless, frustrated tears (...they wouldn't, obviously, because that would have reinforced negative gender stereotypes).Anyway, in conclusion: Lily Allen = good. Blueprint 3 = Angus excited.
